A Lay Day

After 3 weeks of being on a schedule, I declared a lay day. However, if you have any thought that a 'rest' day in Delhi involves sitting around a pool somewhere with a drink in your hand, dream on.

Regardless, we did manage to sleep in till breakfast was nearly over, then consume a fair bit before we left the swank hotel for less opulent lodgings, principally because we couldn't afford the Park's crazy rates. Checked out as late as they would let us, then wheeled our suitcases down the road to the Hotel Kwality. It might be only 2km down the road, but the setting is worlds away from the plush surroundings that we were in. The Hotel Kwality is one of many 2 star hotels near the main train station vying for the budget traveler's business, but so far everything is functioning ok, although the internet speed was far too poor to attempt our ambitious plan of getting a feed of the AFL Grand Final.

Walked up to Connaught Circus for a snack lunch dodging the hawkers, beggars and tuk-tuk drivers yet again, then relaxed under the fan in our room for the afternoon.

Included in today's strange sights were a metal detector before you could get in to Pizza Hut, and a guard with a WWII rifle guarding Subway. It must be all those exploding meatballs!
