Francisco picked us up at 5:00am, and we beetled off towards the airport in the dark. Took Kingfisher Airlines a while to find our booking, but apart from the usual Indian procedures it all went smoothly.
However, it took them over an hour to transfer us from the domestic terminal to the international terminal when we got to Mumbai. A typical Indian circus where, after waiting 25 minutes for the bus and going through a whole screening process, the bus pulled over half way around the airport and the driver went for breakfast while the on-board security guard made sure we didn't escape. Eventually we got a new driver who drove right out of the airport, before doing a u-turn and driving back to the international terminal. The upshot was by the time we did check in, immigration and six (yes - 6) different security checks, our flight was already boarding. Screening at the plane door ensures that you can't even buy a drink air-side, so we had been up five hours with no time to have breakfast or grab a drink. Only in Incredible India would it take over 2 hours to transfer from one secure aircraft to another.
At least flying Qantas you finally get to the door to be welcomed by a big smile and a g'day, helpful staff, and nobody expecting a tip.
A five hour flight from Mumbai to Singapore, and we watched 'Red Dog' while we ate our lunch. Arrived on time.
