A traveling day so not much to report. After breakfast around the pool, we packed, checked out, and took a taxi to the airport. Victoria Falls is not quite the smallest and oldest airport I've been to, but it was close. We were almost the only people there when we arrived, so nothing was open, but after a short while a couple of tour buses arrived, and the place sprang into life. It's so backward that they used old railway weighing scales to weigh our bags, and they laboriously hand wrote every boarding pass. The two flights of the day both arrived almost together, and left almost together, which meant that it was standing room only in the small departure lounge. Presumably now they can all go back to sleep.

The South African Airways Airbus A319 was lovely, and the lunch was great. Arrived in Johannesburg early, and stumbled upon an automatic check in machine which scanned our passports and spat us out boarding passes, which was not bad considering we were traveling on Kenya Airways and we were in South Africa. So we were all checked in with 9 hours to spare - yes, not the greatest connection ever.

Found a restaurant with comfy chairs, bought some coffee, and settled in for the duration. Spent the afternoon making up puzzles for Mandy's course in Nairobi.

After some dinner we checked our baggage on, which was a unique experience. Whether you wanted it or not, every piece of luggage was plastic shrink wrapped, so the queue moved rather slowly. They obviously have a very poor opinion of security at the airport, whether here at Jo'burg or the other end at Nairobi we can't tell. After all of that we wandered around the spacious airport to keep from falling asleep, until we boarded a bit after midnight.
