Playing With Literacy

A few didn't come back for the second day, but a few new people turned up, so Mandy was catering for about 70 again. Today it was literacy, and it was a steady stream of games and activities, all using the students as guinea pigs. Most went well. Some were hilarious, and a few didn't really take off. Seeing very serious pastors trying to play snap was a hoot.

While Mandy was teaching, I walked down to the local shopping complex about 1km away, and did some shopping for supplies. I also managed to slip in a coffee and cake at one of the decent cafes, so that made my morning.

Back at the school we served about 90 hot meals at lunch time. I think that word has got around to the locals, and the gate keeper even nabbed a few lunches being taken out the gate. Mind you, he pinched three bottles of drink for himself.

Finished mid afternoon before they all fell asleep, packed up, and William drove us back to the lodge where we sat in the garden and videoed a couple of interviews for Syndal consumption in a few weeks times. Made arrangements for visits to the other schools the next day, and headed off to the tent to organise the student's certificates for the 'graduation' tomorrow.

Had dinner in the lodge dining room. This time the joint was humming, compared to the emptiness last night.
