Well, it wasn't the kind of day we anticipated when we planned it months ago. "Why don't we sit back in a first class train seat and do a day trip from Stockholm to Oslo so we can admire the scenery?" we said. And that's what we booked. But we ended up not being allocated seats together on the train, the conductor then pointed out that the train was only going half way to Oslo, and we would have to change to a bus - that meant no catering, no lunch and, as it turned out, no air-conditioning.
We all got on the bus in coats and hats, but with the heater jammed on, and no windows to open, we were down to t-shirts real quick. Pregnant ladies were fanning themselves, and we burst off the train at Oslo in a sweat into a 3 degrees chill. A relaxed 1st class train turned into a 3rd class bus, but that's the joy of traveling I suppose.
Nothing else to tell really. Our hostel is round the corner from the main train station. A bit of shopping and we were done for the day. Oh, except for Mandy setting off all the fire alarms through the hostel while cooking tea. Yum, burnt fish, but that's why God invented chocolate I suppose.
