Caught the morning train back to Oslo, and enjoyed all the mountain scenery once again. The train passed through hundreds of tunnels in the mountains, some of them up to 10km long, all made possible by Alfred Nobel's wonderful invention of blasting oil, which we now call dynamite. Made him a rich man, but up here you can see how it was instrumental in opening up this kind of country by enabling roads, railways and tunnels to be built.
Punctual as ever, the Norwegian railways had us back in Oslo right on time, and we walked straight over to the nearby ferry terminal, where we checked in for our overnight ferry to Copenhagen. A large 11 storey ferry. Our self contained suite is quite small, but very comfy.
We stood on the top deck wrapped in our big coats against the wind, until Oslo receded into the distance, then went and enjoyed a lovely Mother's Day dinner in one of the restaurants as the islands of Norway slid past the window. Its the first restaurant meal we've had since Riga almost 3 weeks ago.
