Sunday
Another half day tour of the city. Started by going to the Dr Sun Yatsen Memorial Hall. He is considered the father of Chinese independence, even though he is a nationalist, and was the first president. Later on in the tour saw several statues to him around the city as he was born here. Saw the five rams statue and went to one of the few parks in the city, where it was hard to tell just how many people were outside. Experienced the another of many enforced shopping stops during the trip including one at Jade factory with large intricate carvings made from single pieces of Jade, and watched several Chinese artists paint the inside of jars, bottles and other glass implements with specially curved brushes.
Was driven to the airport around lunchtime and my guide checked me in for my flight by pushing all the way through to the front of the queue and waving my passport and paperwork. Seems that's what any person in uniform just does to get attention.
Flew to Guilin. When we arrived it was damp and foggy, and I was met by my guide named Sunny. Was taken in our taxi for a short tour of the city and a walk around the town and some of the parks.
Was taken to tea and managed a short walk before turning in for the night.
