Somewhere along the way yesterday we crossed the magic line between desert and tropics. All of a sudden it's humid. We now have palm trees, walnuts and mangoes. Things are sticky, and food is going in the esky.

It was meant to be our hardest, longest and last drive, but it turned out better than expected. Left promptly at 7, and for once we made our lunches before we left, and put them in the esky so we didn't have to stop on the way. However, good traffic meant that we arrived in the outskirts of Dar at 1pm, and we were at our campsite on the beach around 2, despite the fact that the police pulled us over for some infraction, and the crew disappeared around the back of the truck with the policeman to sort it all out. Hmm. Not sure if there as a wallet involved, but I'm guessing that there was.

A wonderful afternoon. The sun was behind the clouds so that it wasn't hot, but there was a lovely warm breeze. We sat around the beach and the bar restocking on carbs, playing cards and talking, with occasional diversions to shower, do washing, and charge batteries. Just the few hours off that everybody was craving.
