A day off at last! Got up around 9am to make sure that we didn't miss breakfast. Spent a couple of hours at the internet cafe uploading blogs. The usual antiquated equipment that must be at least 10 years old. They didn't even accept USB devices, so I couldn't upload any photos, but at least people know that we are still on the planet. Old small CRT monitors, and slow speed. Goes down, of course, every time the power goes off, which seems to be every hour.
It was Chinese New Year, which was a big deal for the Malaysian family of 5 from Sydney. Part of the tradition is that you clear all of your debts before New Year, which was funny as they have all borrowed from each other all holiday. Some of them are now out of money, and there are no ATMs at this end of the island, so it was a bit of a futile task.
Then, lo and behold, it was lunchtime, which we spent on the balcony of one of the hotels overlooking the turquoise water and warm surf. Mandy had a brief swim after lunch, but the weather was really too hot to enjoy it. We walked along the beach around the rocks - the beach seemed to go on forever.
A sleep in the heat of the afternoon, before a long surf late in the afternoon. We invited Amos out for dinner, as everybody on the tour had dispersed to do their own thing, and we enjoyed a leisurely dinner on a balcony overlooking the beach, interrupted only by the frequent power outages.
