An overcast morning, but still warm. The forecast for the seas was not good, so they cancelled all of the diving and snorkeling tours for the day, which almost everybody in the group had saved for their last day. Ah well. It gave the party animals some time to sleep in, and since they got in at 5am it was probably just as well.
We took a long walk on the beach, right up to the tip of the island and the lighthouse, till we were shooed away by the armed guard. Guess that he thought we were going to cause severe damage to the lighthouse with our thongs.
Lots of dhows along the beach. Being a day with rough seas, all the boats were tied up on the beach, and many of them had groups of people around them scraping things off the keel.
Lunch was pizzas on the beach, before we retreated from the heat into our room where we lazed about.
The tide had come in by the time we went back down late in the afternoon for a swim, and there was chaos on the beach as a dozen or so guys were trying to stop one of the boats on the beach from foundering. It had just returned with a group of tourists, and got caught in the swell as it attempted to land them, Some others were diving into the submerged deck to try to salvage the tourist's gear, not very successfully we heard later.
Tea was fish at one of the local restaurants on the waterfront, as the waves crashed about under our table. Got back to the room just as the power went off for its usual evening interlude, but this time it never came back on, and was still off at breakfast time the next day.
