Another day of good news. The seas have a slight swell, the temperature is about 7 degrees, and we are making 12 knots towards the ice shelf. The sun hasn't peeked through this far south, but we're not going to complain about anything. It's been a pretty perfect crossing.
After breakfast and a reasonable walk around the deck for exercise, I couldn't keep my eyes open, probably due to the seasickness prevention tablets I'm taking, so I decided to take a nap, and slept most of the morning away. Not much to weigh up really. Be sick or have a nice sleep on your bed.
Kind of skipped lunch, and just had fruit. Can't keep up 12 courses a day. After lunch, just as we were being summoned for the mandatory briefing about landing and embarkation procedures we spotted our first iceberg, so the talk was pushed back a bit. Told what to wear, where not to go, and all the other etiquette that goes along with not leaving you behind.
Next was the bio inspection where our on-ice gear was inspected, cleaned, washed and vacuumed as appropriate. Then it was free time till the captain's reception followed by dinner, with a bird watching session somewhere in there. During dinner the weather changed and we encountered a bit of wind and rough water for the first time, though it was only a few hours before we finally dropped anchor just outside the bay we are going to visit tomorrow.
