Left early and drove to LA, arriving about 11 AM. Not allowed to check in until three, so we drove down LA beaches, past Santa Monica Pier and did some shopping at Frederick's. Then to Venice Beach, Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo, Long and Huntington Beach. Home in the dark along the 405 freeway at 75 miles an hour in a shared ride lane on the wrong side of the road. Did wonders for the heart rate. Had tea at KFC for the first fast food of the trip. The hotel is huge, with hundreds of rooms, and several interconnected buildings. A 10 minute walk to reception. Suppose its to be expected that if you get a cheap rate, you get the room in the next suburb.
