Yulara, Northern Territory, Australia
Monday, April 11, 1988

Arrived at Yulara about 12:30 and reeled at the price of a powered site -- $20.50 per night! Oh well, you can't camp anywhere else, but just in case we didn't like it we only booked initially for two nights. We had a quick swim after we set up, and then spent some time wandering around the visitors centre. Greg went on the resort tour at four o'clock and became an informed little body after being shown the features of the resort by two Rangerettes.

About 5:30 we packed our rug and picnic afternoon tea and joined the peak hour throng on the road to the sunset viewing area. As somebody remarked, there's thousands of square miles of desert, but you still get thousands of people all jostling for position on the same sand dune. Saw the sunset on the Rock -- a pretty ordinary one I gather. Took Melissa and David to the Ranger's star walk and talk after tea.
