Yulara

Yulara, Northern Territory, Australia
Wednesday, April 13, 1988

Decided to extend our stay at Yulara by another day, despite the expense, so we could see the things we didn't have the energy to after climbing the Rock.

The morning saw us explore the aboriginal dwellings and crafts next to the ranger's station near the Rock, then take the ranger's tour around the base of the rock which was a basic introduction to the geology of the Rock and the culture and habits of the aborigines. We then drove around the Rock, and went back to Yulara for a swim and lunch.

We then took the afternoon bus tour to the Olgas, being too chicken to chance the van on the Docker River Road. We saw all the sites and had a brief walk up Olga Gorge before returning in the bus to the obligatory sunset show with the hordes.
