Took a bus tour today with the "Crocodile Connection". Bussed north and taken to see the sights of Port Douglas -- impressive but expensive, then on to the Daintree River near Daintree for a billy morning tea with damper before a two-hour cruise up the river. No crocodiles but very interesting tropical rainforest.
Alighted at a butterfly farm and saw a number of Ulysees (big blue) butterflies and some juvenile saltwater crocodiles. Lunch of barramundi and salad, then a visit to the local coffee plantation and a detour for a short walk down Mossman Gorge for being taken back to Cairns. A long day, over nine hours, but better than driving yourself.
Dropped back at the motel where we retrieved our van from the backyard and returned to the Coconut Village caravan park and the company of the Mudies. Filled each other in on the news, shared Mandy's birthday cake and fell into bed. Wore a windcheater this evening for the first time since Woomera.
