Port Macquarie

Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia
Saturday, June 25, 1988

It was raining on and off as we packed up, so everything was done in fits and starts in an unusual order. The road was fairly busy, with lots of caravans, being the first day of the New South Wales school holidays. Drove the 30 km into Coffs Harbour where we joined the milling throng to do our shopping. Morning tea on the side of the road at Raleigh. Lunch at Kempsey at a nice roadside reserve/playground/information centre. Looked like a used caravan sales yard there were so many of us.

Arrived at Port Macquarie soon after lunch and chose the caravan park (yep you guessed it) with the beach frontage. Our only 4 1/2 star rated park so far. Over 300 sites so it didn't seem very full even though it was holiday time. I had a short sleep, while Mandy and Brendan explored the beach, and went for a walk. After tea we drove into town and walked around the shops. After lolling Brendan to sleep we had coffee at the Pizza Hut for supper. Forgot to mention that Brendan got lost at the shopping centre today. He was standing next to me, but couldn't see me, and bolted down the arcade in panic. Finally found him a long way away in quite a state.
