A petrol stop and morning tea at Benalla, then home for lunch. A good run on the best roads in Australia (biased aren't I!). Arrived home at 1:30 to find the place in good nick, with only minor wear and tear. Brendan didn't recognise anything till I turned the engine off, when he enquired why we were stopping. He thought it was our house, and checking the letterbox announced that this was "2 Alderford Drive". He seemed pleased to be home though he wouldn't admit it.
Had lunch and unpacked all the stuff from the van and caravan before nightfall. As Brendan hadn't had an afternoon sleep, and had a late night the night before, he fell asleep at five o'clock after watching 15 Thomas the Tank engine episodes end to end, completely missed tea and didn't wake till 6:30am the next morning. We had Chinese takeaway and went to bed. Boy, did the waterbed feel funny.
In all we drove 16,000 km, used over 1100 L of petrol and paid over $1200 in caravan park fees. Caravan parks averaged around about $12 per night. The cheapest petrol was 43c per litre in Sydney and the highest 75c per litre in Barrow Creek.
