Went to church at the underground church in Coober Pedy then off. Not a breath of wind and not a cloud in the sky. Perfect! When we eventually caught up with yesterday's paper, it had forecast a gale warning for South Australia, and for once they had been right. Fuel consumption was now back to normal.
A long drive. Didn’t stop at Cadney Park, but had lunch at Marla Bore on the grass under the trees. Rather idyllic really. Went for a walk and looked at the caravan park and swimming pool we used the last time. Definitely an oasis this place.
On over the border into Northern Territory. Past the turn off to Ayers Rock we both used 30 years ago. Today it is unsignposted, presumably to discourage you from going that way. Through Kulgera, and stopped in a parking bay for the night.
There has been noticeably less traffic today as the South Australian schools go back tomorrow, and most of the traffic is south of us. The country has changed this side of the border to be rocky, the soil is redder, and the light and colours look like a Namatjira painting.
