Took a day trip to Millstream–Chichester National Park instead of staying out there. Up until recently there have been two separate parks, which are now connected.  However, that doesn't mean that there is anything to see or do between the two ends.  We had been told that we shouldn’t take the caravan in, but the road turned out to be a well formed dirt road with hardly any corrugations.  When we saw the camping areas we were very disappointed that we hadn’t tried.  About the only site for tourists in Chichester was the Python Pool where we had morning tea, and the boys a swim.  Being the dry, the waterfall was not flowing and the water was a bit stagnant, but very pleasant.

Another 60 km or so to the old Millstream homestead, now a National Park information centre.  Visited the picturesque lily pond, had lunch and toured the centre.  Went back to the Deep Reach camping area for a lovely swim, where Mandy kept the campsite amused with her wimpish imitation of Jane swinging on a vine.  The highlight of the day was racing the iron ore train for 20 kilometres back to the level crossing for a photo.  We made it.  The kids thought the imitation rally cross was fun, and I felt like Butch Cassidy cutting off of the stagecoach.
