Coral Bay

Coral Bay, Western Australia, Australia
Tuesday, September 3, 1996

More physical exertion on the beach before breakfast, then some washing, cleaning and school work. After lunch we went over to the beach and spent the afternoon swimming, snorkelling, walking on the beach and reading.  It really is a very nice spot.  The sun is warm but not hot, the water is getting cooler but still warm enough to swim in.

There are pictures of Coral Bay 13 years ago when it was undeveloped and the first caravan park opened – no trees or grass, just caravans backing onto sand dunes.  They finally sunk a bore and found water, and the place has never looked back.  The water is hot, and has to be cooled before use.  There is also a desalination plant to provide drinking water.  They are starting to build a swimming pool this week.  The toilet blocks are fairly basic, except for a new one just opened.

Went to the fish feeding again in the afternoon, and Ashley was confident enough to have a short turn at the snorkelling.
