Our longest day yet. We stuck to the coast as much as possible, driving through Coolimba to Green Head, then along a dirt road called Cockle Shell Road and into Cervantes.  The car and caravan were both filthy brown with mud and dirt.  We took the van off the car, left it behind a service station, and drove to the Pinnacles.  The Pinnacles are limestone rocks that look like tombstones in a large area of sandy desert in the middle of lush green hills.  A really fascinating place with a 5 kilometre sand road around the park.

Reclaiming the van again we went back to the highway, cutting across to the coast again at Gin Gin.  Afternoon tea was a detour to Yanchep and Two Rocks.  We saw Bondy's yacht club, but Gretel II wasn’t there this time.

We reached our caravan park at Scarborough just on dark.  It was rather grotty, but we consoled ourselves by pigging out at McDonald’s for tea.  How to be a hero!

Rang June after the kids went down to sleep, and found that she’s baby sitting at Gaye’s just around the corner.  She insisted that I come straight around and get some maps, so in the pouring rain that’s what I did.  Gaye came home while I was there and offered us accommodation at her place from Thursday.
