Our relentless march south saw us arrive in Northampton for morning tea. I don't think the town has much going for it except the stream of tourists. We counted 12 caravans in the main street! A lovely catholic church and convent complex, and a nice cake shop.
From there to Geraldton arriving about lunchtime. We went to both campuses of the museum, being kicked out when they closed for lunch. Learned all about the early Dutch explorers and the shipwrecks on the nearby coast. Had lunch on Town Beach overlooking the harbour, then a walk around the town for a shop. Stocked the van with groceries then moved on. Geraldton had two firsts – the first traffic lights since Darwin over 7000 kilometres ago, with big warning signs for people like us who had forgotten what to do when they see them, and the first rain and use of the windscreen wipers since before Broken Hill some eight weeks ago.
Drove on through Dongara to Port Denison and stopped at a lovely caravan park right on the beach. Mandy was spitting chips that it was overcast and showery.
