Rottnest Island, Western Australia, Australia

Although we were almost the only people in the campground, we had to have our luggage ready by 8.00, and vacate the cabin by 9.00. We then went to get our bond money back, and to complain about the lack of cooking utensils.  While we were doing this, a man returned our sleeping bag which had fallen off the back of the truck near the lake!  After that saga we had morning tea to recover, then went on the 2 hour bus tour of the island.  Lovely scenery and some beautiful beaches.  The island seems to have far fewer visitors today – no groups were in.  Following some lunch, a bit of a walk and a tour of the museum, we boarded the ferry with some 85 school kids who screamed each time the boat hit a wave.  It was fun for a while until they started being sick.

Gaye and the boys met us at the pier, and after a long wait for luggage finally got to June's for tea.  The whole family and all the grandchildren were there.  It was a great night and terrific to catch up with Beth and Shonna.  We talked and talked until June kicked us all out.  A windy night in a sloping van.
