Our fourth day in a row of officially "gale force" winds. Luckily they are from behind us, unlike the poor loaded cyclist we saw after lunch toiling up the hill into the wind. He must have been doing all of five kms an hour.
For our part, we sailed into Penong to top up with petrol, so that we could make it to the cheap stuff at Ceduna. It's amazing how petrol prices can drop 13¢ a litre in 100 kilometres!
A fairly long morning tea stop in Ceduna to visit the local Sportspower shop for a photo. Ashley bought some footy shorts for a dollar, and spent lunchtime emulating his Hawthorn heroes at the roadside stop. After raining off and on all morning, we seemed to leave most of it behind about lunchtime, although we still froze to death eating banana rolls in Poochera – it just didn’t seem right. We reached Iron Knob by late afternoon. The golf course (a glorified mown paddock with sand scrapes) has now closed so my long awaited game never eventuated. Much else in the town has also closed down including the caravan park, so we stayed the night in the information bay.
