Went up and over the Adelaide Hills this morning on our departure. Compared to other South Australian roads, the South East freeway is terrific. A stop at Murray Bridge for another Sportspower photo, then Tailem Bend for morning tea.
For the first time since Coral Bay, we've had a sunny day with no rain or wind, but the countryside is practically flooded there has been so much rain. Lunch was at Bordertown, then on into Victoria. Boy, don’t you notice. Roadworks from the border. Victoria has the best roads in Australia, and they are always working on improving them. We only saw four sets of roadworks on our trip in 20,000 kms – one in the Northern Territory near the Western Australia border, one next to Halls Creek in Western Australia, one small one near Norseman, and one at the Victoria/South Australia border.
Went into Horsham to find lots of things closed due to the Horsham show, then on to the Grampians. Many of the rivers were in flood, and McKenzie’s Falls were a torrent. Camped in a roadside stop/carpark near the falls, and ate the last of our food by candlelight. The boys have mixed feelings about getting home. Me – I wish I had another three months to keep going.
