We arrived in Greenville about four hours late so we caught a cab to pick up the car, and we took to the hills. Lovely views, warm weather, and no need for coats, gloves or hats. Had a burger for lunch while sitting in the sun which was a great change. Finally at about 2 PM we got to the Blue Ridge Parkway only to find that it was closed, so we couldn't drive along the mountain ridge as we had intended. Instead we looked at some views and a waterfall. It was a bit of a shame as we had hired the car and spent the whole day to try to get up into the Appalachian mountains and experience some Indian culture, and it was all closed. We drove all the way back, checked in, returned the car, and caught a taxi back to Main Street for tea at an Italian restaurant. Very clean and modern town. One of the first I thought that I could really live in.
