Glendambo for morning tea on the only patch of grass for hundreds of kilometres. We passed the memorable turn off to Kingoonya which history now bypasses. Had lunch at a roadside stop next to the emergency telephone -- one of five along the track connected to the Port Augusta police station. The weather so far has been fine, warm with only a few clouds. The winds are from the south so we're being pushed along, and our fuel consumption is down to boot. (Did you realise that this is the first weather comment since we started!)
Cooper Pedy at afternoon tea time. All four caravan parks are peas in a pod -- grotty. We chose the most hopeful. No trees, no shade, no grass, no playgrounds, and prefab relocatable toilets. One day someone will open a decent one and make a killing. We visited the Opal Cave, no longer run by Fay Naylor, but she is remembered. Went for an underground tour through the mine, and a drive around the town. Had cassata for dessert when Brendan was in bed.
