A fairly uneventful drive -- both morning tea and lunch at nondescript rest areas, though the lunch one was distinguished by a very noisy diesel bus serving as a base for the roadside grass cutters.
Just south of Mataranka we took a side road to visit the 'We of the Never-Never' graves as both of us have just finished the book. The Mataranka Homestead was similarly a short distance off the highway, but a great stop with very helpful staff. We couldn't wait for a swim, so leaving the setting up we headed for the springs for a dip. A lovely oasis and a beautiful place, but not very refreshing. A quick inspection of the old Elsey Homestead replica before dark, and a moonlight walk to sample the country singer and entertainer after dark.
