Headed east from Darwin to Kakadu National Park, and decided to make our first stop at Kakadu Village due to the promise of a swimming pool. Arrived just after lunch and procured a shady spot. Spent the rest of the afternoon by the poolside poring over maps. A lovely pool with cool water for a change, a spa next to it and a water slide which was extensively used by the Mudie kids. Christopher provided us with a lot of amusement coming down the slide at the ripe old age of three -- Jill just didn't watch.

The park is part of a motel complex with a store, cafe, petrol, and pool. The animal life includes a baby water buffalo, wallaby, peacocks and an assortment of native birds, as well as fish and turtles in a big tank.

Believe it or not it doesn't seem to be half as humid as Darwin -- a little bit of breeze and we feel almost human again. But the mozzies!
