Barkly Homestead

Barkly Homestead, Queensland, Australia
Friday, May 6, 1988

A boring day's drive. Renner Springs for morning tea and a chat with some participants in the 'great caravan safari'. Lunch at Three Ways and then we left the Stuart Highway, turning east onto the Barkly Highway. Two sections of unmade road due to roadworks, and several narrow sections. Shipped a lot of dust through the rear caravan window onto the bed, but no damage. Drove through a willy-willy!

When we arrived at the homestead the kids played in the dust, then converted it into mud, and played in that to. We let them go -- mind you we didn't have much choice. A nice set up with clean facilities though little grass. Saw a light plane which had been forced to land on the highway being repaired in the caravan park.

A hot night. We dragged to the fan backed out after thinking we'd finished with it.
