Mother's Day in Mount Isa -- just what every mother looks forward to! Then again, it must have been better than Mother's Day in Elliott or Julia Creek or Camooweal. After an attempt at breakfast in bed we raced down to the mine to do the nine o'clock tour. Included a film and bus tour with commentary which was very interesting. Most involved, complicated and expensive process to extract copper, zinc, lead and silver, but it has to be done I suppose.
After pies for lunch for a treat (we obviously spared no expense) we spent the afternoon swimming and resting. Then after tea Mandy and Brendan went for a short drive to see the view of the city and its lights.
I forgot to include the highlight of Brendan's day. We parked outside the ambulance station for the mine tour, and on our return the officers showed Brendan the ambulance, letting him sit inside it, and even turned the flashing lights on for him. Christmas in May!
