We are now into windcheaters early morning and in the evening as it is cool but fine. A long day today, and even worse, a very boring uninhabited stretch. Morning tea at one of the few small towns called Carmela. I wouldn't have minded owning the service station. There were queues of cars from the time we arrived to the time we left. Lots of caravans on the roads, mostly heading north -- nearly all of them to Cairns. Lunch at another small town called Marlborough, bigger than the rest because it has a police station.
After we arrived in Rockhampton, Brendan had a swim and we went for a tour around the city and through the mall. Bought prawns for tea at last.
Was really impressed with the computer system run by the park. Eight colour representation of all sites in the park, and an on line suburb and postcode finder -- very flash except that the site it allocated us was already occupied. Oh well!
