Visited the Bert Hinkler Memorial House and botanical gardens early in the morning. Will be great in a few years when the gardens are a little more established. Went into town to collect mail, but a lot had not arrived, so we left a forwarding address. After a shop and morning tea we headed out to Childers gambling that the petrol would be cheaper. Sure enough it dropped eight cents per litre once we left the large towns -- the opposite of home.
On to Hervey Bay where we chose to stay at Point Vernon close to the beach, though we didn't end up going to use it. After lunch and Brendan's rest, we did a drive from one end of the bay to the other, finishing in the dark. Lots of lovely caravan parks with beach frontages.
