We still haven't adjusted to the time difference, so I’m still waking up at 5.00am with the sun. An advantage today, though we were on the road at 7:30 to try to bag a site in Broome. We arrived at the caravan park at 9:30 and managed to get the last powered site in Broome, as long as we didn’t mind waiting till it was vacated. Others were not so fortunate and had to camp in the street, and many were turned away. All in all, we were very lucky that our battery restarted the car okay.
After setting up we went down the beach for a before-lunch swim, and refused to move for the rest of the day, having lunch and tea (some yummy fish and chips) back at the beach. The water is glorious and a lovely aqua colour. Tides are about 7 ½ metres at the moment, which means that the edge of the water recedes about 500 m at low tide.
Rang the relatives after tea to reassure them that we were OK. Hall’s Creek riots are front page news at home.
