Broome, Western Australia, Australia

Visited one of the many pearl shops in Broome for an 11:00 showing of a video on how cultured pearls are produced, which we all found educational. Bought some meat vacuum packed from the local butcher.  The theory is that it will keep in the fridge unfrozen for up to six weeks, which is a boon for travellers like us, especially as their meat is pretty good.  The only drawback is that our fridge is very small, and we can't stock that much.

After lunch we returned to Cable Beach and spent the whole afternoon on the beach.  Mandy and Brendan even hired boogie boards for an hour to do some surfing.  Cable Beach is Mandy’s idea of paradise – a huge beach, hard white sand, good surf and magnificent sunsets.  Both boys have loved the beaches here, and Ashley hasn’t been daunted by the waves or salt water.
