Ever since Brendan has heard that he might make the Waverley baseball team he has had me up at 6.30am for practice, and today was no exception. We then did the local heritage walk, which was fairly long, but was interesting and provided good views of Karratha and Dampier.
About lunchtime we finished and drove to Dampier for a look around. Originally the mining town before Karratha was developed in the seventies, it showed none of the decay of Roebourne.
Had lunch in a very pretty park in the middle of Dampier. Later in the afternoon, I took the boys to the local swimming pool which was great. Three different sized pools, beach volleyball court, basketball court, playground, kiosk and lots of grass. Despite it being over 30°, it is not open at the weekends for another month because it's winter.
Went back to Dampier at sunset to witness "Stairway to the Moon" where the full moon rises over a low tide, and the reflections in the ripples looks like a rungs of a ladder reaching up to the Moon. It was very pretty.
