A very slow pack up this morning, so we left rather late. It seems that every galah in Karratha spent the night in the tree over the annexe, so had to spend half an hour hosing and cleaning before I could pack it. Ashley was desperate to feed the galahs, so they and the bread disappeared out of the caravan before sunrise. We also had to go down to the local park to utilise the cricket nets for baseball hitting practice, but eventually we got around to leaving. So far, Broome and Karratha are the only two spots I'd be happy to stay awhile at.
At a morning tea stop on the side of the road we realised we hadn’t planned on visiting Onslow, so as we were a day ahead of ourselves that’s what we decided to do. Onslow is a nice town, with lots of trees, shelters and shade, struggling to keep going with a few closures happening around it. Unfortunately, they also had lots of sandflies too, so after a quick lunch and a longer walk around, we departed to a camping site on the banks of the Fortescue River on the road to Old Onslow. A lovely spot, but very muddy banks so nobody could swim.
