Pemberton, Western Australia, Australia

We packed up and got to the nearby Lake Cave for the 9:30 cave tour. A tad expensive, but a very pretty cave.  It wasn't big, so it didn’t take long to move from one end to the other, but it did take 287 steps to get down to it.  About 70 metres under the ground, and the person who discovered it went down by rope and explored by hurricane lamp.  They are building a big, new information centre so it will be great in the year or two.  On to the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse – the southwest corner of Australia where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet.  Predictably it was cold, wet and windy.

Augusta for lunch huddled under a shop verandah, then on to Nannup for afternoon tea.  A lovely, quiet and quaint town – especially if you want your tea leaves read while sitting under a pyramid.  Then Pemberton late in the day.  Picked up the mail to stop the boys harping.  Good mail for everybody else, but only bills for me.  We then went to the Gloucester tree, but despite my best intentions I only got about 20 rungs up.  Stayed the night in a roadside stop near the Diamond Lookout Tree.
