Albany, Western Australia, Australia

Arrived for morning tea in Albany. Guess what?  Despite having been the butt of our weather jokes for the last 10 weeks, it was a beautiful sunny day with no wind and little cloud.  Had a list a mile long of things to do, mainly things we intended to do in Perth but didn't have time for.  I filled the gas bottles, developed films, changed the car oil, washed the van, charged the batteries, sealed the caravan roof and lots more.

Finally at afternoon tea time we were ready to do some exploring.  We drove up Mt Clarence to the war memorial and lookout.  A great view, and the first time I’ve seen it when it’s not been raining.  Unfortunately the park is fairly overgrown so I couldn’t take any comparative photos.  We then drove around the bay, stopping at various lookouts to take in the view, down to Emu Point which is the very narrow entrance from King George Sound into Oyster Harbour, then around the suburbs before doing some shopping for tea.  Albany has some lovely old buildings and great views. It was the sight of the first European settlement in Western Australia in 1826, and seems very well maintained.
