Left Kalgoorlie in the direction of Coolgardie, which actually pre-dated Kalgoorlie in the scheme of things, but has now somewhat withered. Bad weather and intermittent rain meant that our walk around the town wasn't much fun, but there wasn’t much to see apart from the magnificent Titles Office and Post Office buildings.  Mind you, finding a newsagent that doubles as a butcher was a bit unique.  The outdoor historical display (read – junk pile) was just as it was 25 years ago, and I swear it hasn’t seen a paintbrush since.  We wandered through the train display and museum at the railway station (now disused), then went up to a lookout overlooking the town for morning tea.

Survived a very heavy patch of rain coming into Norseman, but it cleared up miraculously during our lunch.  We bid farewell to our last town for four days and headed east.  Hard to pretend that you’re not heading home any longer.  A roadside stop 160 kilometres past Norseman for the night just before Balladonia.
